Our 5-day Funeral Celebrant Training is designed for those who feel called to hold space for grief, honour life’s transitions, and blend spiritual depth with practical skills.

This immersive training blends the art of ceremony with the craft of celebrancy, ensuring that you leave feeling both spiritually grounded and practically equipped to guide families through loss with authenticity and care.

What's Involved in the Training?
 

Stage 1: Initiation into Funeral Celebrancy

A 5-Day in person course in Perth, Scotland, covering:

Day 1: The Art of Ceremony & Ritual  
Day 2: Practicalities of Funeral Celebrancy  
Day 3: The Power of Words – Storytelling & Holding Memory  
Day 4: Energy, Presence & The Sacred Role of the Celebrant  
Day 5: Final Practice & Completion

Progression & Certification

At Rites & Rituals, we are committed to ensuring that every celebrant is fully prepared — both spiritually and practically — to hold space for end-of-life ceremonies with confidence, integrity, and depth.

​

To progress to Stage 2, students must successfully complete all aspects of the training, including participation in all sessions, practical exercises, and reflections. Only those who meet these requirements will move forward.

Stage 2: Mentorship & Supervised Practice

Once students complete the initial training, they will shadow an experienced Rites & Rituals celebrant, deepening their understanding through real-world experience.

 

Before offering ceremonies independently, each student’s first funeral ceremony must be conducted under the guidance of a Rites & Rituals mentor, ensuring they feel fully supported as they step into this sacred role.

This process ensures that every celebrant is fully prepared, spiritually grounded, and ready to serve with skill and authenticity.

 

Becoming a Rites & Rituals Funeral Celebrant

Upon successful completion of both training stages, celebrants will be fully equipped to offer funeral ceremonies as Rites & Rituals Celebrants, carrying forward the depth, integrity, and spiritual presence that defines our work.

But this is more than just a certification — it is an invitation into a living, connected community. As a Rites & Rituals Celebrant, you are joining a collective of like-minded souls, dedicated to holding space for life’s sacred transitions.

Giving Back Through the Community Fund

As part of this commitment, a small portion of the fee from each ceremony contributes to our Community Fund —  allowing us to offer baby naming ceremonies, rites of passage, and funeral services for those in need, free of charge. Through this shared offering, we ensure that meaningful, heartfelt ceremonies are available to all, regardless of circumstance.

This training is for those who feel drawn to end-of-life ceremony as a spiritual practice, whether you are new to celebrancy or seeking to deepen your work. You may be a celebrant, healer, therapist, or simply someone called to walk alongside others in times of transition.
