Hi, I'm Fiona!
…and I would love to tell your story. In a nutshell, I’m a spiritual, emotional, smiley, happy go lucky and fundamentally nosy girl, with a passion for people and what makes them tick. A broadcast journalist for 15 years and now as a celebrant, that’s always been my thing. I love nothing more than sitting down with people to find out how best we can co-create something that delivers everything needed to create that little bit of magic. A moment in time when the world just stops and ceremony takes over.
I'm based in Stirling, in the heart of beautiful Scotland. I am happy to travel throughout the country, to wherever in Caledonia is calling you.
My Story, My Beliefs
My mum and dad tell me from the moment I could talk, I have been telling stories. When I was a wee girl, I would ‘read’ to and chat away to anyone who would listen. And that never really changed. When I grew up, I did a degree in English Literature at Glasgow University which led me on a path to a postgraduate degree in broadcast journalism.

I then spent 15 happy years in a career that saw me move from my hometown of Glasgow to my adopted hometown of Aberdeen to work for Northsound Radio, before returning home to work for Global Radio, with brands including Heart, LBC, Smooth and Capital. I was fortunate to meet so many different people from different walks of life, some household names, some local legends and everything else in between. I am grateful to every person who let me in and shared a little of their story with me. But eventually, it was time for a new adventure – you know when you just know!

I still turn up on air from time to time but now I mainly work as a life celebrant, based in Stirling in the heart of Scotland but happily travel throughout this bonnie country. Still telling stories, just in a different way. Once again, it is the people who make the job. Making a cup of tea and sitting down with someone to work out how together, we can create a ceremony to help them transition from one part of life to another is rewarding in ways I could never have imagined. The trust I am given by every person I work with is something I appreciate so much and I will always work whole heartedly to make sure I honour that.

My own wedding ceremony was a moment in time that had a profound impact on me. My husband and I were fortunate to be married by a family member who had known me all my life. The result was a beautiful, heartfelt and personal service that created a feeling that was so deeply spiritual, I happily would have gone home afterwards, never mind the party. My day was complete. We didn’t do that right enough, but the feeling, I wished I could bottle it. It was absolutely everything I needed it to be. Now, my goal is to give that feeling to every person who trusts me with their important life event, from birth right through to death.

I feel very fortunate to have found a likeminded bunch at Rites and Rituals Scotland who truly believe in the transformational power of ceremony and I am thoroughly enjoying the spiritual adventure we are on together.
Some other bits and pieces about myself: I am the lucky mum of two beautiful girls who show me every day just how precious this life is. I am an avid reader and tea drinker; a passionate Scotland football fan and over the years, I have taken many a turn treading the boards in amateur dramatics.

I try to take every bit of me into ceremony, to celebrate life and all its highs and lows in a warm and comforting manner. I would be honoured to work with you to co-create the ceremony you need.
