Celebrant Training:

A Journey Beyond Marriage Solemnisation

Embarking on the journey to become a Rites & Rituals Ceremonialist is a significant commitment, and it’s not a path for everyone.

This isn’t just a course for those who want to officiate weddings. It’s for those who are called to something deeper. Yes, the ability to solemnise marriages is a wonderful and sacred responsibility, but it’s only one aspect of what we do.

Our celebrant training is a spiritual journey, a powerful initiation that goes beyond legal roles. It is about embracing the ancient wisdom of ceremony and ritual, and learning how to weave it into our modern lives.

This training is for those who feel drawn to honour life’s most profound moments, from births to deaths, from unions to farewells, and to guide others through them with authenticity and reverence. It’s a journey that calls you to explore your own growth, to reconnect with the timeless traditions of ritual, and to bring these sacred practices back to our communities.

Committing to this course is not just about acquiring skills; it’s an investment in your own evolution and in the lives of those you will serve. It’s a commitment to your community, to hold space for others during their most significant life transitions.

Choosing to become one of our celebrants at Rites and Rituals Scotland is not just about adopting a 'spiritual' mindset when conducting ceremonies. We seek individuals who embody spirituality in their everyday lives... those who approach the world with mindfulness, compassion, and a deep connection to the sacred in all that they do. Being a ceremonialist is an extension of a life lived with intention and awareness, where rituals and ceremonies are a natural expression of the values you carry daily. We’re looking for celebrants whose personal commitment to spirituality is woven into their interactions, choices, and actions, not just during formal ceremonies, but in every moment.

If you are ready to walk this path, to grow, to awaken, and to serve with deep purpose... this training is for you.

We’re dedicated to attracting individuals who are truly aligned with our mission and beliefs, and that’s why we’ve designed a thoughtful process for those interested in training with us:

1. Become a member of Rites & Rituals Scotland, and actively participate in our online discussions and meet-up events.

2. After a year of consistent involvement, you can express your interest in our training programme. This approach ensures that we maintain the highest standards of service within our community while providing unwavering support to every participant throughout their journey.

3. We then have a thorough selection process that involves a detailed application and interviews. We only extend an invitation to begin our training and mentorship program once we are confident that a candidate not only shares our values, but also embodies them in mind, body and spirit.

4. Our 12 month in=person training programme covers all aspects of Life, Love and Loss Celebrancy, including Weddings, Vow Renewals, Civil Partnerships, Naming Ceremonies, Coming of Age Ceremonies End of Life Ceremonies, and other Life Celebrations.
